Bring the dog. We mean it.
Both Persimmon homes are genuinely pet-friendly — orchard lawns to roam, hosts who are pet parents themselves, and no cold shoulder at check-in. Here's how a stay with your dog works, and a few honest tips for the drive up to Manali.
The house rules, kept short
- Tell us you're bringing a pet when you request your dates, with rough size and temperament.
- Please don't leave your dog alone in the room, especially if it's anxious or vocal.
- Dogs are welcome on the lawns and in the garden; we'll point out where to keep them leashed near the kitchen and other guests.
- Bring your dog's bed or a familiar blanket — new places settle faster with a familiar smell.
- You're responsible for cleaning up after your pet on the property, as you would at home.
Driving up with a dog
The road from Delhi or Chandigarh is long and winding in the last few hours. Break the drive, carry water and a bowl, and don't feed a big meal right before the ghat sections — mountain roads are hard on a car-sick dog. There are vets in Kullu and Manali if you need one, and we can point you to the nearest. For a fuller guide, see our journal piece on Manali with pets.

Bringing your dog — questions
Is Persimmon Farmstead really pet-friendly?
Yes, genuinely. Both our homes — Badgran and Shanag — welcome dogs, and we have orchard lawns for them to roam. We're pet parents ourselves, so this isn't a box we tick; it's how we like the place to feel. Just tell us you're bringing a pet when you request your dates.
Is there an extra charge for bringing a dog?
We keep it simple and sort any details directly when you book. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and your dog's size and temperament, and we'll confirm everything, including which rooms suit a pet best.
Can dogs be left alone in the room?
We ask that pets aren't left alone in the room, especially if they're anxious or vocal, out of fairness to other guests and to your dog. If you're heading out for a day trip, talk to us — we'll usually work something out.
Which home is better for a stay with a dog?
Both work, but the Shanag house has open orchard lawns that dogs love, and it's a little closer to Old Manali's pet-friendly cafes. Badgran is quieter and more enclosed, which suits a dog that prefers calm. We'll help you choose.
